Grow with Us

At Blue Dot, we believe educational travel should be simpler, smarter, and more rewarding—for students, teachers, and for the people making it all happen.

We’re building a company focused on what matters: better experiences, stronger partnerships, and a team culture rooted in transparency, trust, and shared purpose. Our leadership has spent decades in this industry, and we're creating something new—with the benefit of knowing what works, what doesn’t, and what teachers actually value.

Join the Dotonauts. The ground crew behind every life-changing trip.

“We started Blue Dot to build the kind of educational travel company we always wished existed.”
— Rich Beekman, Co-founder

Blue Dot is growing fast and we need the right candidates to get us to the next level. This is a chance to join a company with real momentum in the market; where territories are large, every employee has impact, and everyone is rowing in the same direction.

This is a relationship-driven sales role. You'll be connecting with educators, understanding their goals, and helping them launch international travel programs with their students. If you're energized by outreach, motivated by mission, and comfortable being part of a small, driven team where everyone pulls their weight, we want to hear from you.

What you'll do

  • Reach out to teachers across the country
  • Manage your own pipeline and sales cycle
  • Understand and address teacher needs
  • Hit activity targets and sales goals without losing the human touch
  • Troubleshoot issues, coordinate with internal teams, and solve problems proactively
  • Help build the playbook as we grow

What we're looking for

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Empathy, curiosity, and a service mindset
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and resourceful
  • A passion for international travel and education
  • Self-starter comfortable working remotely and wearing multiple hats
  • Experience in educational travel is a significant plus

This is a sales role, but we're open to candidates with an account management background who are comfortable with a hybrid of selling and account management at first, transitioning into a full account management role as we continue to grow.

Compensation
Base salary plus uncapped commission, commensurate with experience. Candidates with significant educational travel industry experience will be considered for meaningfully higher starting compensation.

Company: Blue Dot Tours

Locations: Europe

Status: Independent Contractor

The Mission

At Blue Dot Tours, we believe that travel is the ultimate classroom. We are looking for "A-Player" Tour Directors—master logisticians and captivating storytellers—to lead our student groups through some of the world’s most complex and beautiful destinations. You are not just a guide; you are the bridge between a student’s textbook and their first life-changing international experience.

The Role

As a Blue Dot Tour Director, you own the "on-the-ground" success of every trip. You are the primary liaison between the students, the Lead Teacher (Program Leader), and our local vendors. You will manage everything from 2:00 AM medical pivots to high-energy educational briefings at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Logistical Mastery: Manage all group movements, hotel check-ins, transit transitions (bus/train/metro), and meal arrangements for groups of 30-45 travelers.
  • Leadership & Safety: Execute the "Blue Dot Safety Protocol" with zero compromise. Maintain constant headcounts, manage student behavior with diplomacy, and lead crisis response if needed.
  • Educational Storytelling: Deliver engaging, age-appropriate "bus talks" and site briefings that connect local history to the students’ lives.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a professional partner to the Program Leader, ensuring their educational goals are met while you handle the logistical heavy lifting.
  • Administrative Precision: Manage per diems and expense reporting with 100% accuracy via the Blue Dot digital reporting system.

Who You Are (The "A-Player" Profile)

  • The Calm in the Storm: You have a proven track record of staying composed when a flight is canceled or a museum is closed.
  • Regional Expert: You have deep, "no-GPS-required" knowledge of major European hubs.
  • The Command Presence: You can command the attention of 40 teenagers in a crowded train station without raising your voice.
  • Culturally Fluent: You understand the nuances of local customs and can navigate vendor relationships with professional grace.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years leading student-focused international groups.
  • Certification: Professional Tour Director certification (ITMI, IATDG, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Health & Safety: Current First Aid/CPR certification and a clean criminal background check (required for youth work).
  • Stamina: Ability to lead 12–16 hour days, walking 5–10 miles, while maintaining high energy.

Why Partner with Blue Dot Tours?

  • Professional Respect: We value our TDs as elite contractors. You’ll have a clear Service Agreement and a dedicated home-office support team.
  • High-Impact Routes: Lead specialized itineraries in some of the most historically significant regions on earth.
  • Competitive Compensation: Daily rates and per diems that reflect your expertise and "A-Player" status.
