Code of Conduct

In addition to the Blue Dot Participant Release and Agreement, all travelers must also agree to this Code of Conduct upon enrollment. This Code summarizes the key expectations for travelers of all ages. Please note that your Group Leader may also set additional guidelines for your group. These rules ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable trip for everyone. Failure to follow the Code may result in returning home at your own expense.

Every great trip depends on teamwork and respect for your group, your leaders, and the places you explore. You represent your school, your community, and Blue Dot. Show curiosity and consideration wherever you go.

Your Group Leader and Tour Director are responsible for safety and keeping the tour on track. Their instructions must always be followed. Attend all scheduled activities unless illness prevents it and notify your Group Leader right away if you’re unwell. Leaving the group or visiting friends or relatives requires permission from Blue Dot and your Group Leader before departure. Curfews, check-ins, and schedules must be respected.

Safety comes first. Use the buddy system and stay with the group unless given free-time instructions. Reckless behavior, hitchhiking, or renting or driving any vehicle is not allowed. Keep valuables secure and report any loss or issue immediately to your Tour Director or Group Leader.

Free time is part of the experience, please use it wisely and safely. Stay in approved areas, follow all guidelines, and return on time. If unsure about something, ask before acting.

Breaking the laws of the country(s) you are visiting has serious consequences. Illegal activities are grounds for immediate dismissal. You are bound by the laws of each country you visit, and Blue Dot cannot intervene in legal matters. All legal costs and consequences are the traveler's and family's responsibility, financially and otherwise.

Blue Dot maintains strict policies regarding alcohol and substances. No alcohol is permitted for anyone under 18. Travelers of legal drinking age may have beer or wine only, with prior approval from both their Group Leader and parent or guardian. Hard liquor, illegal substances, or any excessive drinking are strictly prohibited. Some Group Leaders may enforce a zero-alcohol policy for all travelers, which must be respected. Smoking and vaping are not permitted on buses, in hotels, during meals, or in enclosed spaces. Weapons, fireworks, or illegal items are never allowed.

Treat hotels and transportation with care. Keep noise down, respect other guests, and never invite visitors to your room. You are responsible for any damage or incidental charges and should report any existing damage when you arrive. Incidental charges must be settled before checkout.

Blue Dot is committed to a safe, inclusive environment. Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the tour.

Please remember, failure to follow this Code may lead to warnings, loss of privileges, or dismissal from the tour at your expense. Group Leaders have full authority over behavioral decisions. No refunds are provided for missed tour portions.

When everyone is respectful, responsible, and engaged, travel becomes more meaningful for all. Travel smart, be kind, and make memories that last a lifetime.
