Visit Panamá Viejo, the ruins of the original Panama City founded in 1519, where crumbling cathedrals and stone towers tell stories of pirates and empire

Visit the Biomuseo to explore Panama’s natural history in a Frank Gehry-designed museum that’s as colorful as the biodiversity it celebrates
Day 3:
El Valle de Antón

Take an excursion to El Valle de Antón, a lush volcanic caldera where cloud forest trails, waterfalls, and wildlife surround this peaceful highland town

Hike local trails, winding through dense greenery to waterfalls and natural pools nestled in the valley

Visit La Piedra Pintada, a massive boulder etched with pre-Columbian petroglyphs that hint at ancient local legends
Day 4:
Gatún Lake

Enjoy a boat ride on Gatun Lake, cruising through a jungle-lined section of the Panama Canal

Visit Monkey Island to see playful primates in their natural island habitat, reachable only by boat through the lush tropical wetlands
Day 5:
Panama City

Visit a local pineapple farm to see how this tropical fruit is cultivated and sample it straight from the source

Visit the Miraflores Visitor Center, overlooking the Panama Canal locks where ships rise and fall, and exhibits explain one of engineering’s greatest feats
Day 6:
Chagres National Park

Take an excursion to Chagres National Park, a protected stretch of rainforest where rivers, jungle, and tradition come together in Panama’s interior

Canoe along the Río Chagres, gliding through jungle-lined waters on your way to one of the park’s remote communities

Day 7:
Portobelo

Take an excursion to Panama’s Caribbean Coast, where turquoise water and colonial ruins tell two very different stories of the region’s past

Enjoy a snorkeling adventure, diving into clear waters to explore colorful reefs and marine life

Visit the Portobelo Ruins, once a vital Spanish trade hub, now a crumbling reminder of piracy, empire, and resistance
