Peru: From Lima to Machu Picchu

Day 1:

Flight to Lima

• Meet your Tour Director at the airport
  

Day 2:

Explore Lima

• Guided by a local expert, explore Lima’s colonial heart. Walk past City Hall, the Government Palace, and the Cathedral, then visit the San Francisco Monastery with its baroque facade and famous catacombs
• Explore Miraflores on foot with your Tour Director, strolling through Lima’s modern seaside district where parks, cliffs, and Pacific views meet Peruvian culture and energy
  

Day 3:

Lima - Cuzco

• Fly to Cuzco
  
• Guided by a local expert, explore the ancient Incan capital and its hillside ruins. Visit the fortress of Sacsayhuamán, and pass the ceremonial sites of Puca Pucara and Tambo Mach'ay overlooking the valley

Day 4:

Cuzco - Sacred Valley

• Travel to the Sacred Valley
  
• Explore the Sacred Valley, where Incan history and Andean culture meet. Visit Pisac Market for colorful textiles and local crafts, stop at a wildlife sanctuary to meet rescued animals, and explore Ollantaytambo Fortress with its massive terraces and sweeping view
  

Day 5:

Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu

• Take the scenic journey through the Sacred Valley, tracing the Urubamba River toward the base of Machu Picchu
  
• Visitors to Machu Picchu follow established guided circuits through the citadel. Today's circuit may include the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana stone, the Temple of the Condor, the Water Mirrors, and sweeping panoramic viewpoints with Huayna Picchu rising behind terraced peaks and swirling clouds

Day 6:

Machu Picchu - Cuzco

• Visitors to Machu Picchu follow established guided circuits through the citadel. Today's circuit may include the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana stone, the Temple of the Condor, the Water Mirrors, and sweeping panoramic viewpoints with Huayna Picchu rising behind terraced peaks and swirling clouds
• Follow the river and mountain slopes by train, passing terraced hillsides and quiet Andean villages
  
• Travel to Cuzco
  

Day 7:

Cuzco

• Enjoy a rafting excursion on the Urubamba River, navigating gentle rapids and dramatic Andean scenery along a route once sacred to the Incas
  
• Enjoy a special farewell dinner to celebrate your journey and share a final meal with your group
  

Day 8:

Cuzco - Lima - Depart for home

• Enjoy free time (location based on flight routing)
  
• Fly to Lima
  
• Depart overnight flight home
  

Day 9:

Arrive home
